Group Therapy

Interpersonal Process Group

1 h 30 minHamilton Psychology|West Perth|Lawrence Avenue

Service Description

Group therapy offers a space to better understand yourself through your interactions with others. Many of the difficulties we experience—such as feeling disconnected, misunderstood, or stuck in relationships—naturally emerge within the group, where they can be explored in a thoughtful and supportive environment. Over time, this process can deepen your awareness of relational patterns, strengthen your sense of self, and create opportunities to relate in more authentic and meaningful ways. This group may be particularly suited to individuals who experience ongoing interpersonal difficulties, feelings of isolation or disconnection, or a sense of being stuck in repetitive relational patterns. It is also well suited to those who are reflective and open to exploring themselves in the presence of others. Groups are held weekly for 1 hour and 30 minutes in a structured and confidential setting. The group runs in a closed format over 8 weeks (subject to availability), allowing for continuity, safety, and the development of meaningful therapeutic work over time. An initial assessment is required to determine suitability and ensure the group is appropriate for your needs. Group therapy can be a cost-effective way to engage in meaningful psychological work, either as a stand-alone treatment or alongside individual therapy. Research has consistently shown that group therapy is highly effective. As Irvin Yalom, a leading figure in group psychotherapy, noted: “Group therapy is a powerful form of therapy… its efficacy is equal to or exceeds that of individual therapy for many conditions.”
